20-40mm Versatility With Constant F/2.8
At the wide end, emphasize the depth and scale of architecture or include more of the landscape around your subject. Move toward 40mm for environmental portraits that balance the person with their surroundings. The F/2.8 maximum aperture stays constant throughout the zoom range, supporting background separation at the normal endpoint. On APS-C cameras, the full-frame-equivalent range is 30-60mm.
VXD Autofocus for Stills and Video
The linear-motor focus drive delivers precise tracking for everyday subjects, from pets to people. Support for Nikon Hybrid AF and Eye AF lets compatible cameras use their focusing capabilities, while M/A operation and in-camera lens correction add flexibility.1 Quiet autofocus supports video use, although lens operating sounds may still enter a recording.2
